Originally trained in basic and advanced upholstery (City & Guilds 1990 - Distinction), Ingrid Ellis received a Distinction in Creative Soft Furnishings (City & Guilds 1992) at the City Guildhall University.
In 1990 she set up her own business in upholstery and soft furnishings at her workshop in London, later concentrating on loose covers. Her clients have been as diverse as private individuals, property developers, and the Egyptian Embassy, London. She has also produced loose covers
for photographic shoots for promotions in Homes & Gardens magazine
as well as the Habitat catalogue and Elle magazine.
Between 1994 and 1997 Ingrid taught all levels of
Soft Furnishings and Upholstery classes at the Wandsworth Adult
College in South London. In 2001 she started teaching private courses
in Dorset and Northamptonshire.
In 1999 Ingrid relocated to Dorset, and now
concentrates on teaching one-to-one loose cover courses exclusively
in her studio in Weymouth. |
