Learn loose cover making on an actual chair, not
just a small sample!
This intensive, hands-on course is designed
for those who already have some knowledge of soft furnishings or
upholstery and who are comfortable with a sewing machine. By working one-to-one with
Ingrid you will receive as much individual attention as you need
in order to create a loose cover of individual design for an armchair.
Classes are friendly, informal and relaxed and entirely tailored to the individual student. In particular we will cover: |
|
| |
- a general overview
-
how to make a cutting plan
-
how to cut the fabric in the most economical way
-
how to cut, sew and assemble the cover
-
how to fit it successfully
You will also get first class notes to refer to and take away, and general advice on how to price and market your work. Individual consultations can be arranged for support after the course.

Loose cover making can be physically demanding. Ingrid will
make every effort to ensure good working conditions, but there
will be a certain amount of bending over the chair and working
at awkward angles.
This course is designed around one-to-one tuition at the Weymouth
studio, but Ingrid is happy to explore alternatives - click
for possible options. She is also happy to deliver the course
in German if you are coming from further afield....
